Beef Steak Tartar Recipe
Ingredients:
- 100-150g (4 to 6oz) fillet steak
- 2 teaspoons finely chopped or grated onion
- 1 egg yolk
- 2 teaspoons capers
Steps:
- Scrape or mince meat, removing any fat.
- Shape into patty shape, top with egg-yolk.
- Place onion and capers at side of steak (or they can be mixed
into the meat).
- Have a pepper grinder so that fresh pepper can be ground over
the meat.
- Serve with hot buttered toast or pumpernickel bread.
Gherkins, anchovy fillets, horseradish can be additional seasonings.
Note: Steak Tartar also makes a good, unusual appetiser. Combine all
the ingredients, spread on buttered toast, top with a little caviar.
